Margaret Rychen Suter 1911-2013

On November 19, 2013 the Swiss Society lost a long time member. Margaret Suter was one of the first women inducted into the Society back in 1982. She was a fixture at the Society meetings and will be missed by all that knew her. Her obituary is below.


Marguerite "Margaret" Rychen Suter was born May 27, 1911, and passed away peacefully at Alive Hospice on November 19, 2013. She was 102. She is preceded in death by her parents Ida and Emil Rychen, her devoted husband of 60 years, John E. Suter, 5 siblings, and numerous beloved friends. She is survived by two daughters, Jane (Frank "Nicky") Becker, and Carolyn (Victor) Muller; sister, Olga Dunbar; sister-in-law, Janice Rychen; 6 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild, and a host of extended family and friends.

Family will receive friends at Phillips-Robinson Funeral Home, 2707 Gallatin Road, on Thursday, November 21st, from 4:00 – 8:00 pm. The Service will be conducted at First United Church, 3410 Granny White Pike, Nashville, TN, Friday, November 22nd at 1:00 pm, with The Rev. Dr. Steve Cottingham officiating. Interment at Woodlawn Cemetery.

Active pallbearers; Frank Becker Jr., Hank Becker, Gordon Dahl, Jonathan Leach, Jeff Pement, Samuel Pement, Benjamin Pement, Caleb Scales, Eric Steidl, and Ryan Steidl.

Honorary pallbearers: Werner Suter, Neil Andrews, George Dunbar, Marc Hines, Larry Rychen, Randy Rychen, Donald Rychen, Bronson Rychen, Franklin Hood, Melvin Hilton, Paul Ridge, J.D. Korfhage, Mark Young, Roger Prince, Guy Dotson, Sr., Dr. Henry Harrell, the Swiss Society of Nashville, and the Visiting Angels caregivers.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First United Church.
